Just put in the order, and the trucking company should be picking them up from Burnaby on Wednesday. I'll update again once we've cupped it and figured out a new blend.
West Coast Coffee Traders is an absolute dream to work with.
I'm stealing this from their website which talks about how they source their coffee. Working with great companies like this which have a strong commitment to the quality of coffee as well as social responsibility make working in coffee fun, and educational for the students. What a better way to teach social justice and social responsibility than to live it through the coffee trade.
"Our Values
We have a strong belief that coffee should have a positive impact from farm to cup. Working closely with farms, mills, and co-ops, we ensure that everyone benefits equally from our exports. As a priority, we pay a premium to source ethical coffee that benefits not just us or our clients, but also the farmers, their employees and their surrounding communities. Some projects that we have had the pleasure of being a part of, include;
A medical clinic for the farm workers and their families, providing proper health care with numerous professionals brought to the site throughout the year. We have also helped construct a school at origin, and currently fund a scholarship program that enables children to stay in school and gain a greater education to help themselves, their families and the community. Furthermore, coffee proceeds have helped build proper water treatment systems that help irrigate the farms and also provide fresh water to the surrounding community, something that the residents would not otherwise have available to them.
These are just some of the projects we have worked on and continue to support. If you would like to learn more about our social programs or contribute to the efforts please contact us and we would be happy to provide you with information. However, if you are an existing client, you have already helped in our efforts and we thank you for your continued support."
