Just ordered 500 compostable cups and bio degradable lids so we can provide an environmentally friendly option at the Christmas craft fair. Look forward to americanos, lattes, capaciunos, mochas, hot chocolates ect. and feel good about it as fair to farmer, environmentaly friendly coffee is as important to us, as we know it is to you.
We still have a little work to do. we have to hook up the ducting... and that's about it. we're all ready to start roasting and will be bringing around 100lbs to the Christmas craft fair at the old school in Port McNeill. we'll be selling coffees and lattes as well so come by if you need a delicious pick up mid day.
We picked up Scott Rao's book on coffee roasting. I can't recomend it enough and wish we had it when we started designing the roaster.
we're back on track. we're using fiberglass cloth as a way to maintain a gap as well as insulate the drum and avoid hot spots. Things are coming together and I love the trowell the kids built. we're hoping to do our first roast tomorrow. we're calling in reinforcements. So apparently metal expands when it heats up? It's throwing our gaps off in the roaster so we're trying to add in extra rings and heat sinks. Whoever said science isn't important? Guess we should have been listening to Ms Rose and Mr Taylor more from the get go.
so two steps forward, one step back. having to do some work on the drum, but we should be up and ready soon.
almost done! We have the roaster burnin and turnin! just working on truing up the ends and getting the heat just right.
now we're trying to figure out the solenoid situation and find an electronic starter. If anyone has any ideas let us know! The teachers are finally helping out with the build. The kids parted out an old furnace and we got the solenoid working. Played around with roast logger a bit and can't wait to see how it all fits together.
In Victoria cheering on four sd85 employees. Stephanie, Kathleen and Eleanora are doing the half; while Kaleb (the machine) Childe runs the full. You can imagine how encouraging it was when I checked into the hotel and realized I was in room 1-eleven. this must be a good omen for our North Island runners! good luck everyone! I'll be enjoying a wonderfully sweet espresso from discovery coffee.
things are starting
to come together. we tested the cyclone and it works with sawdust. let's see how it does with chaff. |
